Present Inquiries | Unearthing

I inquire about what is sacred and how to restore sacredness in the human expression through shadow work. In my practice I have been reflecting on the act of unearthing, an uprising of what has been forgotten, erased, and oppressed. Unearthing appears in my work through crafting ceremonies because I believe devotional work is needed to navigate crises. Work that is repetitive, circular or spiral in nature rather than linear. I question how the subconscious and unconscious impact the world we are living in and result in outbreaks. In my inquiries I look through a somatic, shamanic and psychological lens. I have been thinking about the shamanic path and how it can offer us supportive methodologies in restoring our humanity and connection to all relations. The shaman’s ability to retrieve what has been oppressed and fragmented from an individual's psyche, soul, and body brings me to question the need for integration within an outbreak. The shaman has learned how to travel through the underworld territories to restore balance amidst dis-order and the truth is modernity has become an "underworld." The shamanic path inspires me to question how working with memory on the conscious and unconscious level allows integration to occur within the human psyche but also within the collective field of networks. Co-creating an outbreak holds a potential for the sacred to be respected, restored, & remembered.
